Arunachal Pradesh is India’s remotest state and the first soil to greet the rising sun.

According to the Hindu mythological legend,

Arunachal Pradesh is a place where; Sage Parshuram washed away his sins, Sage Vyasa meditated, King Bhimsaka founded his kingdom, and Lord Krishna married his consort, Rukmini.

  • TAWANG

Tawang is India’s very own Scotland. Located at the height of near about 10000 ft above sea level, picturesque, it is a thinly populated mountainous tract lying on the northwest extremities of Arunachal Pradesh in the northeast India. It is also the seat of the 100 years old monastery which stands out as the oldest and the largest in India.

Apart from this being a city, sharing the border with Tibet, the place is also a pilgrim to them as it is the birthplace of the sixth Dalai Lama.

  • NAMDAPHA NATIONAL PARK

The Namdapha national park is the third-largest in size, biodiversity hotspot situated in Changlang district which is 459 km from Tawang.

Nestled between the Patkai range and Dapha Bum range of Mishmi hills, the park is home to about 424 species of flora and fauna and is one of the new national parks that allow camping within the boundaries

The habitat in the park keeps changing with altitude. While the lower reaches of the park are sub-tropical, the landscape is soon replaced by the sub-tropical pine forest, temperate forests, alpine meadows, and perennial snow as you move up.

Several places inside the park have interesting names like mihi-phi-phi and bulbuls which adds to the allure of the park.

While the park is open to visitors throughout the year, an inner line permit is essential for the trip.

  • Sela Pass

Sela pass is a part of the Eastern Himalayan range is pretty special for the Buddhists, it is believed that about 101 lakes exist in and around the area and each of them has a huge religious significance for the Buddhist community.

It is the high-altitude mountain pass located in the Tawang district. It has an elevation of 4170 meters, connects the city of Tawang to Tezpur, and Guwahati, and is the main road connecting Tawang with the rest of India.

The pass has hardly any vegetation and is usually snow-covered all through the year. During winters the temperatures can go as less as minus 10 degrees. The location can be visited any time of the year. The fairs and the festivals in Arunachal Pradesh are a fine way to understand the state’s rich culture and traditional practices. An extension of the lives of the people of the state, the fairs, and the festivals are marked by lots of colors.   • TEZU

Tezu is a census town located in Lohit district in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. It is the most developed and the fifth largest town in the state.

Roing is the district headquartered in the Lower Dibang Valley district in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. It is the last major township at the north-eastern frontier on Indian territory.

Unlike other regions of the state, Roing is geographically plain with a lot of land for farming and cultivation.

It is a land of enchanting hills with lush green valleys. It is popular among tourists for adventure activities.

The snow-peaked mountains, deep gorges, turbulent rivers cascading down the hills, numerous waterfalls, placid lakes, archeological sites, peace and fun-loving hospitable people, and above all, the heavenly climate makes it one of the most attractive destinations for tourists. Natural heaven with mountains and lakes is one of the most exciting places in Arunachal Pradesh.

The best time to visit Roing is April to June bringing some meantime heat as it remains pleasant. The temperature during summers in Roing remains between 20 to 30 degrees centigrade.

  • ITANAGAR

Situated at the foothills of the Himalayas, Itanagar is the capital of Arunachal Pradesh. The pleasant climate scenic vistas and naturally rich environment make Itanagar a perfect destination for long vacations. Itanagar and surrounding regions are excellent places to participate in adventure sports.

The unique selling proportion of the city is the stupendous natural grandeur and blissful weather throughout topped with enchanting and luring hills.

Famed as the “Land of Dawn-lit mountains,” the city sits as the bustling capital of the Northeast state. It has an average elevation of 320 meters and the place is inhabited by many tribes that share the history of Ahom kings, and the fort of Itanagar is associated with.

The city is also famous for the tropical and sub-tropical fruits, handlooms, weaving, carpet-making, etc.

  • BOMDILA

The small town of Bomdila is perched amongst the panoramic settings of the lofty ranges of the eastern Himalayas. It is a remote destination and like a few other Indian towns, it has escaped the virtual tourist invasion in recent times.

Located in the northwestern part of the state, it is set amongst the mighty Himalayas at an altitude of 2530 meters above sea level. The weather is alpine, summers are short and mild, while winters are too cold hence, April and October are considered to be the best time to visit Bomdila.

The history of Bomdila is lost in time however, the sources confirm it to be a part of the Tibet kingdom and the local tribal rulers and rulers of Bhutan ruled it from time to time and from the Ahom rulers of Assam did not interfere with the local tribes.

Bomdila offers to the tourists a panoramic view of the awesome Himalayan terrain with its snow-covered mountains. It is famous for its apple orchards and travelers’ can take a walk there. It also has a couple of Buddhist monasteries or Gompas. The area around Bomdila has some trekking and hiking trails that attract adventure seekers.

Dirang, 42 km from Bomdila, is a small town on the banks of River Kameng. The historical significance of the city as a prison during the ill-famed Vietnam war and a refuge during the World War. The tribal house too has given a distinct style and architecture to the city.
